Solved ASRock has bad boards

Wow this makes me wish for an American made mobo. Maybe this will happen one day, of course the mobo will have to retail for twice the Chinese price but in listening to all this maybe the time is coming soon for quality to take over again or at least quality controls. I've had plenty of component issues but reading these and other posts can really take the allure out of building your next rig. It seems everything has it's catch or it's Achilles heel. I hate to say it but maybe we need to revolt against these cheap Chinese made goods finally and support products manufactured in our home countries or at least have options to support other countries of manufacture.

What processor are you using with the Fatality?

Do you have the system setup in a case or on a work bench?

What is the make and model of the RAM? Video card? and Hard Drive?

If I know these I might be able to help figure out what is going on with this.

What processor are you using with the Fatality?I have tried a 1055T, PhenomX4 965, and a new FX-6100

Do you have the system setup in a case or on a work bench?Both, the first in a case and the last 3 on a piece of cardboard.

What is the make and model of the RAM?All GSkill, 3 different sets one 2x2GB and two 2x4GB, and one 4x2GB, the 2x4GB is 1833 CL9 and the others are 1600CL7. I have also tried different slots and one stick only.

Video card? Nvidia GTX460 and a Radeon HD4670

and Hard Drive?Crucial M4 64GB, Seagate 320 and 500GB.

If I know these I might be able to help figure out what is going on with this.

Thanks. I updated the BIOS (UEFI) to ver p1.50 on each board.

On your cardboard test bench (I have one also) mount your 965 chip, only the SSD and one stick of RAM from one of your 1600mhz sets in the first slot, either GPU will work.

connect your 24pin power and 8pin CPU power and PCIe power cables and give this a shot.

I have a ASrock P67 extreme 4 motherboard, I had did have 2 of my SATA ports fail but I also had a failing HDD. I've yet to try out my new HDD on those ports. Are you sure it's not a Problem somewhere else?

If you have one of the original P67 boards which were plagued with the faulty chipset then you are experiencing the route of the problem which affected the SATA III ports.

All of the manufacturers did a recall of the first generation boards.

Thanks for getting back. I had tried that config, if fact with two different sticks of 1600 RAM, one is 4GB, the other 2GB but still no boot or POST. No beeps at all either.

Positive. Since November I have tried every combination of hardware possible, including 3 drives.

You should call NewEgg and ask to speak to a manager in their RMA department.

Calmly explain that you have been dealing with ASRock and the problems you have had. Ask NewEgg if you can return it since it has never posted and you would accept the re-stocking fee and have the remainder of the cost applied to your account as a credit.

I have actually done this with NewEgg two times now, the secret is to not get cranky or demanding with them. It also helps if you have a nice track record of purchases with them.

Another possible solution is to start a new RMA with ASRock, ask for the advanced RMA exchange where they will put a hold on your CC until you return the defective board but they will also direct ship the replacement immediately. This way you will not get your old board back.

Thanks Kipper, I was considering giving Newegg a call. Sounds promising.

In each RMA to ASRock I have got a different board, I have checked numbers and put my mark on ones I returned. However I suspect I'm getting back board other people have returned with issues. Of course it's in the warranty statement that the unit will be replaced according to their option.

Au contraire on the ASRock mobo's but it sounds like you maybe got a bad one. ASUS and MSI lead the grief departments. For me in all my builds I've used:
(8) MSI
(1) ASUS
(2) ASRock
In all of these to date no issues have been the mobo's fault. I did have two that didn't have updates to accept the CPU's they claimed and were designed for.......WTF? But in the end I don't personally think anyone manufacture makes dogs, it seems to be luck of the draw. My ASRock build was a joy to work with and it's rocking my girlfriends AMD Phenom 965BE rig and overclocked with ease......water cooled.

Yep and there are those with similar MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte experiences. I think it's as important where you buy as what you buy sometimes. I like to purchase the CPU and mobo at the very last point of the parts gathering process so if I have an issue in the next day or two once received then I have a option to return back to the seller as well as manufacturer.

I can understand your frustration! I've bought one Asus and one ASRock and both have worked fine so far. Your experience suggests buy from a reputable shop front retailer and not online. Doesn't it just p you off when customer support is lousy.
