I have reinstalled and the new version is working well, just going thru the updates and whatnot now (SP1 just finished).

I wanted to offer my sincere things to everyone who commented on this thread and tried to help me with my BSoDs. I stumbled across this community by searching for Bluescreen errors and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of quick support you guys gave me. It was great.

Unfortunately, after a while the blue screens got so frequent that any additional diagnosis was getting out of hand and at a certain point it was faster just to reinstall windows than attempt further repairs.

Is there a thread anywhere that offers advice on what to do after a clean install? (IE: driver updates, windows updates etc?)

I am going to go thru and rep all you guys and bookmark this site for future reference, the information in this forum is outstanding. You guys deserve a round of applause....

Mark

Well thanks for updating us Mark, and the kind remarks are appreciated.

I am unaware of any threads to the extent you are looking for, but we can turn this thread into that, if you like.

There really isn't any fixed procedure for how to set up again after a reinstallation. Install Service Pack 1 first, as that is a collection of hundreds of previously-released updates, and will save you the trouble of installing them first. After SP1 is installed, go back to Windows Update and keep up checking for updates until they are all installed.

As far as driver updates go, that's good too. I don't recommend any driver updating programs, so just check on the hardware manufacturer's site for the latest updates.
