Solved Atikmdag.sys BSOD im going literaly insane over 300 webpages and stil

Golde,

i just formated my PC and installing the driver from HP, didnt not work, i got the same BSOD as to prior formating the PC,

before posting here i dis assembled my pc and cleaned everything, from the inside out, thinking it might be cause of a faulty seating, of the GPU

now i have another questions, since this problem started because of the PC froze up and i just pressed and hold the start button because it was frozen, could it be that my GPU is now busted?, or is it posible to take the GPU off the mother board and reseat it?

if you guys need another BSOD i can make it happen again just by enableing both graphic Devices, from the Device Manager, and after it restarts i will get the BSOD again.

Mike mate without seeing what the GPU's look like I cannot say some these days are removable I believe but generally the older machine tend to have them soldered to the board and it is a very hard job to a) get them out and b) harder to resolder them back in as one has to be extremely careful with heat when soldering in chips to boards.( I used to make small projects years ago and with dedicated parts one has to apply heat sinks between the chip and the board and with small chips that was really a work of art.

I have attached a pic of an older type board.

The process in the factory is that they insert components in the board and then the underside of the board is dipped in molten solder for a very short time.

Now thinking about that start button I am just wondering if it is sticking on - it would cause problems by not releasing properly so in effect it just might be attempting to keep restarting the machine.

At this point, what should be my next step,

Vents are cleaned,

CPU and GPU are eaven color, do not have signs of overheating,

So the light can be seen from outside and the fan free of crud as per my earlier pic if so what is the idle temps now? I am just curious to see what if anything is better.

Plus when you had the machine open were there any scorch marks blown caps or dry joints now I know this is very tedious but we need to eliminate physical causes.

Good afternoon

I just wanted to thank all of you for your support, and honestly this has been the most defying i have eve encounter in the PC world, i had surrender, and had alrady offered my pc for sale, since i tought my GPU was broken, im happy to report i finally FIX it today.

The problem begin when my pc shutdown when i didnt realize my laptop wasnt hooked to a power source, i had already openend my computer to clean it, but i didnt do it therali,

so today after giving up i decided to get a toothbrush took my laptop apart completyly and cleaned every centimeter, i found a lot of dust laying in very hard places to reach it took me almost 1 hour cleaining everysingle piece, also reseted the bios, i took the battery appart and hit the power button to drain the energy, left the laptop almost 2 hours with out the bios battery, afterwards, i booted up in safemode, ran DDU to uninstall any driver file left over, i started windows normal, and manually installed the latest driver, in this case was Radeon-Software-Crimson-Edition-15.11.1-Beta-64Bit-Win10-Win8.1-Win7-Nov30, after it was installed i restarted my pc, i was ready to see a BSOD, but incredibly, it booted up, now both of my cards are runing perfectly,

my toughts are that the fact the pc shutdown drasticly, some dust particles might have picked up some static, creating a bridge between some circuits, and removing this cleared the problem,

again thank you and i hope this helps other fellow, just FYI took me 17 days to get this fixed and at the end of it all incredibly it was just dust.

Yep mate he crud does get into some very tiny spaces even the tight fit of the RAM sticks and cards.
This is something to keep in mind if you need to do something ike this to fis a problem - I use it when cleaning anyway.
SLOT CLEANING
Now as for the slots to clean them use a strip of old credit card (or any card thin enough some are better than others ) about 1/2 inch wide nip the corners off one end - preferably round them off hold a piece of thin lint free cloth over the end dab on some form of alcohol - isopropyl alcohol (what we swab the skin with before an injection) is good and GENTLY swipe along the slots.
This can also be done for the GPU slot/s and also the contacts of the sticks or cards - not the stick but some lint free cloth of course. See my pic for the sick but please be very gentle doing it if you are in any doubt - please ask before doing it but I use this all the time and have yet to damage anything.

Needless to say make sure all power is drained and you take anti static precautions
