A friend‘s XP-SP3 PC became infected with XP Antivirus 2011. This morning I ran MalwareBytes in Safe mode & deleted all malware. After reboot I ran a thorough scan using Malwarebytes, MS Malicious Software Removal Tool. All scans now show a clean system, including MS Security Essentials.
However, I noticed that XP Security Center indicated that Automatic Updates is not turned on. After trying a few times through the Automatic Updates in Control Panel I was never able to get Automatic Updates enabled.
Will going back to a prior Restore Point correct this or is there a more appropriate fix?
Thank you for any assistance.
