title says it all.... i started a weekly backup at 18.45PM its now 21.55 and its only 40% done, its not exactly a huge amount of data, only 95GB

any help on this? im sorry but it shouldnt take 3 hours (and counting) to backup 95GB worth of data right? when i actually put it all on there (from my old HDD) the initial transfer took about half an hour....

oh and its going from 1 SATA HDD to another if it helps, actual transfer rate between the two normally evens out at about 70MB/s

any ideas how to speed it up?

Check the actual data that's being copied using "Resource monitor", if it's a lot of small files (text files, office documents, pictures, etc... small files) then the backup WILL take time, reading small files is hard for mechanical disk, even SSD has problems with that kind of workload...
