I had seen it cheaper on Newegg. But I get 2 or 3 daily feeds from them and don't remember when. I would wait for a sale at newegg.

In recent days there were a few other cheap 256GB SSDs on Newegg - e.g. this one which I bought 3 months ago (for more money, LOL). There was a Kingston for the same price, but that is sold out.

Mushkin Enhanced Chronos MKNSSDCR240GB 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - Newegg.com

PS> Mushkin says 240GB because they have reserved 16GB for overprovisioning (smart). So it is also a 256GB device.

Yeah I get the newegg emails too, but I think it was a couple weeks ago that they had a better price on it?

Is there a particular time of the year when the new SSD models come out & the current ones really drop in price?

I'm sold on the Samsung 840 EVO 250g

I saw the Kingston the other day for $140 I think but really want the Samsung.

I am not aware of any special time frame for new models or cheap prices.

I like Mushkin because they are serious people. The once replaced my 2 year old 60GB SSD that went belly up within 2 hours - no questions asked. And they are fast. This is my 240GB Mushkin in an external enclosure. Internally I run a Crucial M4. All I am interested in is the 4K performance. The bigger blocks are irrelevant. I run all my virtual partitions from that disk.

The International CES is a global consumer electronics and consumer technology tradeshow that takes place every January in Las Vegas, Nevada. Starts tomorrow. There is really no time frame for releasing new models of ssd/hdd's. The CES shows off all the latest tech. With all the old hdd manufacturers starting to introduce ssd's I think we will benefit for the competition and see a drop in prices.

Check bhphotovideo.com I think they are about $10 cheaper on the EVO than Azon and the Egg. Good choice for the ssd, well worth the extra money IMHO.
