Hi, sorry if this has already been asked before, but I just got a new laptop on a good deal brand new, however it obviously comes with all the dreaded bloatware.

I plan to wipe it all off with revounistaller followed by cclean, but i'm wondering if you guys have an easier, faster more efficient method? Is it possible to somehow install the OEM which came with it over the top again, making it a fresh install without all the crap.

Thanks guys, any help is appreciated :)

It's win7 x64

Most efficient: wipe the drive and do a clean install.

Download the ISO from mydigitallife.info, burn it to a disk, install, activate with your existing OEM product key.

Otherwise, there is an app out there called "Decrapifier" or something like that, which is supposed to do a pretty good job.

Yes, the ISO from that site will work.

Be sure to get the EXACT same version for which your 25 character Product Key is valid. It should be on a sticker on your PC or in the battery compartment if you have a laptop.

OEM is different, in this way:

OEM license is restricted to the original motherboard. If you change motherboards, the OEM license is not valid. On occasion, Microsoft will have some mercy and let you get away with a new motherboard if your existing motherboard dies. But you would have to call them, tell your story, and hope the guy you happen to get on the phone is having a good day.

Non-OEM license is not restricted to the original motherboard. You can change motherboards at will, BUT you can use the license on ONLY ONE PC at any given time. Most techy types upgrade parts from time to time and prefer non-OEM licenses for that reason.

So i got the iso and did the fresh install and it worked a treat :)

Now i'm stuck with now drivers haha, i'm assuming i just get them all from here right? Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire 5755G

its a 5755g

Also i backed everything up before doing the install and searched for drivers on the backed up image, but i couldn't find anything specific e.g. network adapter driver, which i need right now.

Thanks

The Windows disk typically has all the drivers you need.

If you do not have an Internet connection, I would go to Acer and get their Ethernet/network driver for your PC---unless you happen to have it on a DVD or CD that Acer may have supplied with the PC. I assume it would be the one labeled "LAN driver" at your link.

But I would NOT get other drivers from Acer as long as your PC is functioning well as it is. If the current drivers work, why update?

If you have any probs with the Nvidia driver watch for one in optional Windows Updates or use the one from Acer's site as OEM's sometimes customize them for notebooks.
