Just a quick question as to the best use for my 80Gb mSata drive and 500Gb HD. Now using mSata for Win7 and programs, 500Gb drive for what ever. Am I making the best use of this configuration? note Intel i7cpu and 8Gb memory.

Keep all your data on the HDD, that`s about the best you can do, so you`re good. ;)

With only 80 gigs, you might wanna install your games on the HDD, I don`t think it will hurt gameplay.

Thanks for your in put. Some times I just wonder if I would be better served using some other config. I'm now down to about 15Gb free on the mSata and have heard that once you get past 50% used things slow down. Not that I need a speed boost lol. Just always looking for ways to keep this 2 plus year old laptop running in top form.

Whoever told you, "Once you get passed 50% things slow down" is a liar.

As long as you take care of windows, it will always be fast :p

AddRam,
Thanks for the come back on the 50% I have often wondered how true that was since only having 15Gb left my laptop still run fine and no slow down noticeable. I was trying to recall just where I heard or read that, but scratching my head and can't recall. There is just way to much info on the internet both true and well plain old BS.

You have some good specs but you do realize that you will eventually need to use CCleaner to clean junk files and do some defrag once you are done with that.

CCleaner - Builds

Defraggler - Builds

Personally, I'm quite conservative of space. I haven't even filled up the 75 GB overall capacity of the physical HDD on my old PC that has 3 partitions.

With that kind of specs, I can even try a few OSs on virtual machines, with their respective virtual hard disks stored on the 500GB partition.

If your 80 GB partition for Windows 7 only has 15 GBs of space left, then I suspect, there may be a lot of files saved on that which you can move to the 500 GB partition as well as a number of possibly unneeded programs that you will need to remove completely.

Its more comfortable for me knowing that I always have plenty of space on my C: drive than what I need to.

Vertex hi and thanks for your info and suggestions. I myself also use ccleaner and have for years now and would be lost without it. As for the defrag, my understanding is you never defrag a SSD so as of yet thats not been anything I have done. I do do that with my spinner HD but not often since I don't have much on it. When talking about only having 15GB left yeah I agree there should be thinks I should remove since so much of the programs and such are never used and if used not often. Lenovo loads their systems down with tools they think everyone should use and I'm sure some are worth there weight in gold if you have major problems. My only problem is what programs do I delete??? and what do I keep. I am sure many in here would say remove everything thats not needed. I would like to hear more ideas from others as to what you all do with programs such as Lenovo and other put on new machines.
