BIOS Update for Acer Aspire 7720 running windows 7

It's just the normal soundcard that is prebuilt into the laptop.
However, after looking up some stuff a bit, I think this may be related to Uniblue Driverscanner (which I've uninstalled now). Apparently, Driverscanner is basically useless and doesn't really help much.
I think I got it when I installed something on my pc, can't remember which program offered it exactly.

I'll look into what I can do to restore the sound, but I'm thinking this may be the actual source of my problems.

This is old, but it may help someone sometime. I've seen techs miss this so many times and it's simple as dirt. one of your hard drive controllers (or cdrom controller) is in PIO mode. Right click and delete the controller in question, reboot and it will reinstall in DMA mode. problem fixed. all it takes to put a controller in PIO mode is to try to use a scratched up disk in an optical drive. the drive will drop it's speed to try to read the disk, eventually dropping all the way down to PIO mode and it will not come out by itself. You have to fix it manually.
