Booting / Bios Issue

Hi guys,

I hope this is in the right section. If not I'm sure somebody in the know will move it.

I just installed an Asus Crosshair IV Formula mobo. I have Windows installed and every thing is fine on that end. However when I boot Windows doesn't load automatically. I get this message

Please enter Setup to recover BIOS setting
Press F1 to Run SETUP
Press F2 to load default values and continue

Pressing F2 lets me continue fine but it's a bit of a pain. I started getting this message after I updated the BIOS using the Asus Update tool.

Prior to this I also get a message flashing up saying something about checking for disc then disc not found. But it flashes so quick I can't read it for long enough to note it all down.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would try to update the bios from inside the bios. the update tools likes to break things.

Okay after trying and trying and then making this post I fixed it (typical) after updating the BIOS my HDD had been switched in the boot order somehow. I changed it and now it's okay. I still get the "Searching for drives; None; No Drives" (or something like that) message, but it flashes away so I presume it's no big deal.

By any chance is it looking for IDE drives? Mine does the same thing.

You probably can change that from within the bios settings.

I'm honestly not sure because it flashes up and goes so fast, I could take it down if I restarted about 10 times and noted it piece by piece. I'll have another look.

Edit: It says something else about PCI Express to SATA II. I don't think it's an issue probably a message which is ment to be there
