Bottom half of icons not showing up. Windows 7, dual display

I have a two monitor display. A proview 1280x1024 and a Samsung 1920x1080. Both are at native reaolutions, with the Samsung as my main display, and the proview just used mainly as a Skype/music stream monitor. The proview had the problem up until recently, but I haven't really cared since it has very few icons and is covered up most of the time anyways. Now, something happened, and the Samsung has the problem with icons not fitting correctly. I moved something from my proview to the samsung, the samsung screen took a second to refresh after this before it slightly changed the icon size/space between icons, making the bottom row cut off.

I've already rechecked setting on the Samsung, the display isnt cut off with the V_position too low. The standard connection on the Samsung has died a year and a half ago, so I am running it with an HDMI cable.

I am running a Radeon HD 5700 series, which got its final driver update in November before being discontinued. That update has been downloaded since November.

Hi & welcome to the Forums.

It would seem that screen resolution has been changed on the Samsung. Right click on the Desktop & select Screen Resolution. When that opens you will be able to what resolution is being used & you should be able to change it to fix the problem.

You should also check on the link showing on the screen resolution window that refers to "Make Text & Other Items Larger or Smaller", as well, in case that has changed.

Double checked, screen resolution is still the same, icon size hasn't changed. It is still the default small.

if you right click on the right screen and choose view put a check mark next to line to grid see if that works for you

Yes you could certainly try what oscer1 has suggested & align icons to grid. To do that right click on the Desk Top & from the menu select View & select as necessary.

From you screen shot it seems that the icon is caught behind the Task Bar. Do you have Task Bar set to Auto Hide, if so you could try just dragging that icon up away from the task bar area. Or you could delete it if you don't need it.

Icons are already aligned to grid. I had a hard time even getting an icon down there, since the computer sorta recognized that the bottom row was an actual row.

You did not answer my question about using Auto Hide on the Task Bar.

You could also try unticking the Align to Grid & then drag that Icon away from the task bar area.

Taskbar is set to auto hide. You can see I highlighted that icon behind the taskbar in the image. I can move the icon freely away from that bottom space, I just have trouble putting it there.

Well, I found the "fix" if you even want to call it this. I recently physically moved the location of my computer, and in doing so moved my monitors. It use to be Samsung left, Proview right. The are still plugged into the same ports they were beforehand, since I only have one HDMI port and one normal VGA port, and the VGA port on my Samsung is dead.

I couldn't get use to my mouse wandering over to my other screen with my new set up, whenever trying to get back to the first tab and not using the shortcut of Ctrl + 1 or trying to click on the back arrow, anything that involved the left side of the screen. So I switched my display set up back without physically moving my monitors, since that is what I got use to. When I switched back, the icons reset to the normal grid on my main Samsung screen and are now messed up on the Proview. Still annoys me but better this way.

The Samsung, main screen, was always the default screen and labeled as "Screen 1" when messing with monitor views, so I have no idea why changing the spacial orientation of the two screens inside my computer changes the desktop grid alignment.

You can use the Windows Key + the P key to change the monitor views if you wish. You could try variations that might help you.

The Windows + P method is a very quick & easy way to change monitor views.

I use 2 monitors as well, although both have the same resolution, & if I wish to use the Extend view I select that, or if want the Duplicate view I select that. If I only want one monitor on I turn the other one off.
