BounceBack Ultimate back-up software and alternative

I bought BounceBack Ultimate /CMS Products v11 and couple years ago but wanted to get my backup protocol in order before doing the time consuming first full system backup. I never found the time until a few weeks ago. I bought it for two reasons: 1- CMS claims that it's the only software available that actually makes a copy of the OS, so if even a major system corruption event happens, the last system backup in good condition will be quickly restored in the time it takes to do a reboot and 2- It got very good reviews from PC World and PC Mag.

So, with my system in good shape and sfc scans indicating no problems, I performed the first full system backup of my C: drive with about 500GB of used space on its 1TB capacity to a brand new Seagate 2TB external drive. It presented a lot of error alerts about drives I don't have which I had to "Ok" through before it finally gets started with a backup and it took about 16 hours and then failed to complete. Tried another time - fail again. Their support provided their v11.4 and it was better, less errors but still too many and it did complete the first backup, but then follow-up backups are hit and miss to complete. Their support's solution is I buy their v14 now, at a discount, but it seems I should get at least one error free backup for the money I already paid for it. Plus, v14 may not be any better. Now they seem to be ignoring me altogether with no replies to my last four messages.

Does anyone here have any experience with this software and also are there any alternatives by now that copy the OS like is claims to do and which are reliable and may even be free?

Never heard of it. Information on their site is scant. Seems to do some kind of mirroring, hard to tell exactly what or how. Unusual feature, but not one that anybody I know would bother with.

You could try one of the free solutions.

Thanks Robert! I see the term for copy is "cloning" and that's one of its many features. I'm really glad it's free now. I checked some reviews and they all are very positive about AOMEI Backupper. Since I heard about cloning I always wondered if there wasn't some licensing violation issues about it. I suppose that the cloned drive can only be used in the source PC or can it be used in another PCs too? This would be great for portability during travel if it's possible.
