Few months ago someone let me have this nice little notebook she hardly used after it sat around in her closet for awhile. I cleaned off a few bad guys and downloaded over 60 windows updates and it seemed to work fine. Only recently I've been experiencing a growing frequency of intermittent BSODs during and after coming out of sleep mode, or after light computing over 5 hrs. At least, that's what it seems :o I usually don't have to turn the computer back on manually after a BSOD but this morning when I first turned the pc on I received the message “Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown.” So it must have happened when I woke up from dozing off late last night and found the pc already turned off, then went to bed.

Attached is my file from the SF Diagnostic Tool. I would be very grateful for someone to take a look and provide some input or suggestions.

Thank You!
R.Adele

Have you tried a system restore to before the problem began?

Security App
Please remove Kaspersky and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials to see if it provides more stability. Uninstallers (removal tools) for common antivirus software. Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes are recommended from a strict BSOD perspective. They do not cause blue screens on the system as other AV products do.

Hi Koolkat77..

Thank you for replying back. I considered a system restore but decided to check w/ the techs on this site before making things more complicated. Also, I did have MalwareBytes installed for a few wks. I woke up one morning and noticed it vanished into thin air (POOF) as if it was never installed. Now that was really strange.

Alrighty ..now that its almost midnight and much cooler I'm going to get started on your post.

KoolKat ..I did the Uniblue updates (24 drivers) and rebooted. I ran another scan and Uniblue said no drivers needed updating. Now I just ran a driver scan on HP's site and HP listed all the same drivers as Uniblue and said they all need updating ..huh?? Who should I believe? Also, Bios has an update. Should I do it?

Before I make another attempt at this list, I have a question ..is Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro compatible to work 2gether on the same pc?

(Oh and no more BSODs so far but Im still proceeding w/ your list of tasks little by little ..just been to hot to be on pc in the house :o )

I do not trust Uniblue or any auto update driver software. I download my PC's drivers from the mfg website of the vendor. So, if HP's website says you have to update them then go ahead. Not malware bytes pro, you should go with the free one, unless you want to pay for the pro version.

Malware bytes is a anti malware program while MSE is a real time antivirus.
Take your time.
