I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I also have used Webroot Secure for a few years.
On 9/3 Windows notified me of updates available - I installed but did not reboot at that time.
I rebooted the system 9/7. After rebooting I saw two programs not normally seen at startup:
SyncIOS (showed connected to a device but was not) and Skype (i remember seeing this in the update)
I closed Sync IOS and tried to close Skype and saw the 1st BSOD - the system then rebooted
This time only Skype showed (other than normal startup icons) tried ctl-alt-del to close it – 2nd BSOD
Repeated above – same 3rd BSOD
Booted into Safe Mode using F8 – tried to uninstall Skype – Windows Uninstaller not working
Looked at System Restore – had no backup points
Rebooted manually – tried to get back into Safe Mode but F8 did not work
Tried again – same result

Got this message from a calendar program I use (VueMinder.exe – Bad Image)
C:\\Windows\system32|MSVCR120_CLRo400.doo is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using original installation media or… – clicked OK

After rebooting normally I tried to uninstall Skype again – msg: An installation for Microsoft.NET framework 4.6.1 is currently suspended. You must undo the changes made by that installation to continue. Do you want to undo those changes? Clicked ok.
Msg – One or more of the files required to restore your computer to its previous state could not be found. Restoration will not be possible. – Clicked ok
Appeared to uninstall Skype. Then the next BSOD

I tried to boot again to safe mode – a disk read error occurred. Press Ctl+Alt+Del to restart

Booted normal – made an list of installed programs using CCCleaner txt file (thinking worse case scenario).
Got message that Windows installed new programs
Tried to save the installed list to Excel and as soon as I started typing another BSOD

After the boot I saved installed file without typing (renaming) as Book1 to desktop
Microsoft installed new updates after I agreed to them, among them:
Microsoft keyboard
Microsodr NET framework 4.6.1
Downloaded updates – ok – preparing to install – ok creating a restore point. Installed all updates – restarted
Appeared to boot better – VueMinder back and working fine.

But then whenever I use the keyboard - Microsoft Comfort Keyboard 5000 (has worked well for a few yrs)
it crashes into the BSOD again. I could not even get to this forum normally by typing the name - had to send a link from my laptop and could open it with the mouse that came with the keyboard - the mouse seems unaffected. But then when I had to press any key to continue to gather the info - another BSOD.
And I could not reboot into safe mode using f8 (several tries) so another email from the laptop with msconfig that I copied from mail on the pc - pasted into the search box and in the Boot tab clicked to start in Safe Mode, which it did. I was then able to run the zip file - send it to Dropbox - access it on the laptop and attach.

It would appear that it was something with the keyboard caused by the update but that is just my guess.
Thanks for the help!!

I found the culpret - a Microsoft update that caused errors with Webroot. So here was the fix I used (so far so good)

-Download http://download.webroot.com/compatibilityflag.zip
-Locate secureanywhere icon in your system tray
-right click the system tray icon and select "shutdown protection"
- A prompt confirming whether you want to shut down appears. Click yes
-import the compatabilityflag.reg from the zip by double clicking on the file
-reboot the machine after confirming the import.
Webroot are providing the link so I guess they ackonowledge it now.
