Hi all,

Every time I try to play a video on steam my pc crashes. I think the error is related to hal.dll but I'm not sure. I have install a fresh copy of windows and update all the drivers (including BIOS) but the problem still exists. I have also check the CPU temperature using prime95.
I am starting to suspect a hardware issue but I don't want to change something before I'm sure. Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Had a scan through your dumps and they are all 0x124 errors which relates to hardware complaining and causing the crash
Unfortunately the error output of them all is "Internal unclassified" so as with most 124 errors there is no way to tell a finite cause

Have a read through this thread and try the suggestions http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/35349-stop-0x124-what-means-what-try.html

Your error could be caused by anything from a bad driver or bad overclock to an actual hardware fault, unfortunately its pretty much a case of trial and error to rule out as many possibilities as you can

Thanks for the quick reply. I have check the thread you suggested. I also unistall the speedfan and KIS but I have the same issue. I also have tried all the hardware test programs you suggested. I think it is time to start changing components. :(
Any suggestions which one goes first (ram, motherboard.....)

Try to reset your BIOS settings and see if that helps.
If you haven't stressed your hardware, here are the tools to do it:

Furmark, if the temps goes too high stop the test. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100356-video-card-stress-test-furmark.html

MemTest86+ for 8 passes, It must be MemTest86+. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

SeaTools(DO NOT RUN FOR SSDS) http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/313457-seatools-dos-windows-how-use.html

Prime95, if the temps goes too high stop the test. www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-hardware-stress-test-prime95.html

Test the volts of the PSU using HWInfo, download the correct version and open it. After you've opened it click Sensors-only and run. Now scroll down to the power section and screenshot the power section.

Speecy, to see if you are overheating http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/306654-speccy-advanced-system-information-tool.html

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions. I have updated and reset my Bios with no result. I also check the voltages....I check with another motherboard + CPU combo and the problem was gone. The problem is that I used an Intel lga 2011 cpu so I coundn't chech my prossecor and my motherboard separately. Therefore, the problem is with the motherboard or the CPU.
Between the motherboard and CPU which one do you thing may be the root of this BSOD?

Thanks.
