Bsod on boot new gpu (screen black so cannot give the error code)

everytime i installed the drivers for my 980 it gets stuck in a rebooting loop. when i boot into safe mode i get the message that i had a bsod. is this a dead card ?

Try other driver versions too, from Drivers | GeForce

If the result is the same, change the card.
