BSOD playing Microsoft Flight Simulator X FSX

Have a fairly powerful gaming computer to run FSX. My CPU is overclocked to 4.6. The only way to get really good performance out of FSX is to overclock as much as one can. The computer only BSODs when running FSX. Uploading the following:

Has FSX ever run without BSOD?
Have you added any new hardware recently?
Have you added any new aircraft recently?
Have you added any new FSX add-ons (Real Weather, etc.) recently?
Have you tried to use the FSX repair option in the software to see if it finds a problem?

On this computer Yes. I ran FSX with a lot of addons successfully. Was having intermittent problems with the PMDG 737 NGX Autopilot that finally caused PMDG support to throw up there hands and say that had never seen it before. So I decided to have Windows re installed. I then used NICK N FSX bible, that turns off quite a bit of Windows stuff, and added back two airport scenery, the PMDG 737 NGX, Fsuipc, EXDOk, TrackIR to name a few. No I had not gotten to reinstalling any of the support addons

As a regular FSX simmer, I would suggest you tread lightly when stopping services. I have found that only a few need to be stopped. Memory hogs are 1) antivirus and malware programs 2) MS debugging 3) print spooler 4) MS security center 5) Windows search. Of course, I assume you are not simming online--or that you are behind a router firewall--before stopping AV and malware software.

However, I would suggest the following: kill one service at a time, start FSX and see if the problem occurs. If not, stop another service, start FSX and continue accordingly. I would suspect it is a service you have killed that is causing the BSOD.

You can repair FSX by inserting the original DVD. The option will appear when it recognizes FSX is already installed. Here's another checklist (http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?269451-FSX-Repair-Check-List).

You can also start FSX in safe mode to ensure it is not an add-on (I think the command line is fsx.exe -safemodewhich).

I would bet it's a service that you have stopped. I know it can be time-consuming, but with FSX and its many add-ons, tracking down the culprit always takes time. If you've overclocked, it only makes your system twitchier.

Try that and let me know.

First, I rolled the overclock back from 4.6 to 4.2 and I have not experienced anymore BSODs so I guess it was the overclock that was causing the BSODs.
In regards your email, the services that I stopped were as outlined in Nick Ns FSX Bible. I had turned off the same services without BSODs before I had windows re-installed. I am experiencing two problems currently. 1. My computer before and after my windows re-install will not reliably maintain the time. I can reset the time to the current time but at some point the time will stop updating. And again before and after my windows re-install I experenced problems with the autopilot on the PMDG 737NGX. The autopilot will work fine and then at some point either the aircraft will slowly deviate from the track or fail to make a turn or will suddenly lose altitude, with a corresponding speed increase. Ryan at PMDG spent a lot of time with me and finally said that he had never seen anyone else have an issue like mine. Thanks for your help, you were the only person who answered. I thought this forum was busier than that.
