for the past few days when i click on Sleep the computer shuts down (not hibernating), so in the morning when i wake up i have to press the power button to reboot, it goes to black bios screen saying it shut down wrong, whether to start normally or safe mode, i choose normally, then when i get to the desktop a window comes up saying it shut down wrong...

i ran your diagnostic tool and have attached my zip file. please let me know how to fix this issue. thanks!

Welcome aboard, Nick.

A PC will not go to hibernate in some situations like ....

► If there is not enough Space in the C Drive.

Let us see....
Code:
Drive    C:
Description    Local Fixed Disk
Compressed    No
File System    NTFS
Size    465.66 GB (500,000,878,592 bytes)
[COLOR=Red]Free Space    34.18 GB[/COLOR] (36,698,836,992 bytes)
That's really low. You need to salvage some free space. Try it:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/129976-hard-disk-space-free-up-recover.html

If the Hibernate is disabled. Then it is enable it. Follow the tutorial to enable it:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/819-hibernate-enable-disable.html

If the hibernate file is damaged.
First disable hibernate. Then run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html, and then enable it again.

Let us know the results.

Yes, there is one more thing to do .... ensure that there is enough free space in the HDD, the first point.

As my earlier post says (information obtained from the files you uploaded), the free space available is not enough for it. Try Hard Disk Space - Free Up and Recover. Code:
Code:
Size    465.66 GB (500,000,878,592 bytes)
 [COLOR=Red]Free Space    34.18 GB[/COLOR] (36,698,836,992 bytes)

i can free up some more but it wont be too much. a few months ago i only had a few GB free and the Sleep function worked just fine then, why would it not work now that I have 34 GB free? I will free some up today so it'll be around 45-50GB free.

I attached my MSINFO32.zip

i have been storing important files on a 2 TB external HDD but I also keep a lot of it on my laptop as a backup if my external dies (which i've had many do). at what point should my computer go back to normal and actually sleep if i deleted files? how many GB need to be freed up? and if that does nothing to solve the issue then what?

nuke126, try to free up as much as possible. Preferably, free up everything other than the OS , program files, user files etc essential things.
