BSOD when closing programs 0x00000050

My system has been stable for many years, most recent HW change was addition of SSD about 1 year ago. Now maybe a month ago I started getting BSOD's. Always the same error code: BCCODE 50 0x00000050. These would occur when closing programs (such as games, chrome) or when alt-tabbing. After the start of these crashes, I updated some drivers, but that had no effect.

I have ran Windows memory tester for couple times about 5ish hours and it's had no errors. Also I have run chkdsk on all disks and no errors.

Can you roll back your graphics driver as we've had quite a lot of issues with these latest ones.
Roll back through the device manager.

   Warning

Before changing drivers, make sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there are no points, make a System Restore Point Manually.

To roll back using Device Manager do the following:

1. Go to Start
2. Type Device Manager
3. Expand your Display Adapters
4. Right click on your graphics card
5. Click on the driver tab
6. Then click roll back driver

Stress test your graphics card with Furmark

I recommend running it for around 30 minutes

   Warning

Furmark will increase the temperature of your GPU rapidly so keep and eye on your temperatures

I'll give Furmark a try tomorrow. However I doubt it would be stability issue as it never crashes when a program is running, even a heavy game.

I can sure try rollback, but since the crashes started to happen before I updated drivers, isn't that counterintuitive? I mean I know for sure that the old drivers had the crashes.

Well your driver before was quite old and the latest versions seem quite unstable so rolling back to the second to latest version should help.

The option to roll back drivers is blanked out for me? Should I uninstall and reinstall the 2nd newest? Attached is newest crash log, again happened when I alt-tabbed from FTL (game) to Chrome.

I ran Furmark for 30 mins and no artifacts. Temp was stable at 90.

Uninstall the drivers completely and install the previous version.
90 is a bit too hot but it doesn't seem to be causing stability issues.
I think the graphics card is ruled out.

If you still get crashes after installing the other display driver then I recommend enabling Driver Verifier.
Only enable Special Pool.

Enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier -Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning

Before enabling DV, make sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there are no points, make a System Restore Point Manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

• If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
• If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Thanks for the instructions. I changed to older display drivers and the crashes changed too: no longer BSOD during alt tab, but instead complete freezes while playing. The only way to get out of it would be to hold the power button. After a few of those I went with the driver verifier and got immediate BSODs (different code than before). Couldn't get in Windows at all and couldn't get safe mode up so I did system restore. Attached is the log.

Daemon Tools is a well known cause of BSODs, remove it immediately, you'll have to find an alternative as there's no way around this.

OK! I'll report back after have done that. I don't even use it at the moment, it must have evaded me when I have cleansed background processes.

It seemed to work, driver verifier ran for few hours and then games were also stable. However I got a BSOD with new error code when shutting down the computer, after closing all the programs. Attached is dumps.

Still getting freezes in games (FTL, EVE). The whole system just randomly locks up and sound gives artifact and after I have to restart from power button.

You probably need to install SP1, but you wont be able to do that since you are running an LENOVA OEM on a retail motherboard....your system won't show as genuine, so no update will be possible.

I recommend purchasing an installing a genuine retail version of Windows, before you proceed further. Your system will be much stabler for it.
