BSOD when using Hauppauge 2250 TV Tuner

So I have a brand new (3 week old) desktop that i am trying to replace my cable with. I have an also brand new Hauppauge 2250 tuner I am trying to install on it. Every time I mange to get it installed it will run for a few minutes and then I get a BSOD of the IRQL not less or equal variety. When I run the BSOD check it seems to involve the hcw89.sys file and the ntoskrnl file which makes sense to me the hauppauge driver is not jiving with something in the windows system. I have used the BSOD upload application that was on this forum if someone were willing to look at it and let me know what i could possibly do to fix this issue. As nice as the guy from Dell support was his fix was just sending me a new card and from what I have read online and what I could decipher from my dump file it seems to be software related not hardware. This is my first time ever using a forum so if I have done anything incorrectly etiquette wise I apologize.

If you want someone to look at your dump files you should start a new thread in the Crashes and Debugging Forum here. Include your zip file.

But it sounds like a bad driver install. Here is what you can do:

Go to the Hauppauge website and download the most recent driver for your version of W7 (32 bit or 64 bit). Always a good idea to use the driver from the site, the driver on the CD is notoriously old.

Then go into Device Manager and Uninstall the Hauppauge tuner. Once uninstalled shut down the computer, disconnect the power.

Then physically remove the card from the machine and start up again.

Go to System Restore and restore the computer back to a date before you installed the card.

Now shut down and reinstall the card again, get into Windows, and install the new driver. When you first reach the desktop Windows will try and fail to find and install a driver for the new device. Let this process play out. Windows will find nothing and say so. X out of that window, then you are ready to install the Hauppauge driver.

When reinstalling the card, it might help to use a different PCI-e slot, if available.
