Solved BSOD while playing BFBC2

Hi just wanted to add myself to this thread. I have the following spec

Gigabyte x58 usb3
hd 5870 gfx card

And guess what last thursday started to get BSOD in bfbc2 And yet cannot get it to happen in other games just this one. As the error code i got was 0x0000124 saying a hardware error I started trouble shooting. I have repleced memory, hard drives even a brand new gfx card etc without solving this problem.
I have updated bios, gfx drivers. even tried rolling back drivers to previous versions. I also tried validating install of game wthout problem.
I have a creative headsetmic with built in usb soundcard so I also tried using this and disabling onboard sound with no joy.

I am noticing a certain group with this problem i.e gigabyte x58 series as well as a strong folling with radeon cards. Are we looking at a compatabilty problem with these together or just luck? My guess is it is gigabytes vesion of the x58 chipset. If this updates please let me know as I was on point of rma of my pc but with only 1 program doing it it may be tricky proving the fault.

I have had the same problem.

I tried to run verifier and that came out with the gdrv.sys driver as the problem.
I have since then uninstalled the Gigabyte Easyboost application and I have now played flawless for the since then.

Hope it works for you ..

Do you mean easy tune? As this is what I have installed. I will try uninstalling anyway as i do not use it anything is worth a try at this point.

I noticed an issue with that driver when I did driver verification the other day. Unfortunately, I couldn't remember the name of the driver specifically to look it up. Since my research has overwhelmingly turned up Gigabyte MBs, I'll try getting rid of the Easytune or whatever it is. I don't use it, anyway.

Docellis,

Thanks for the update. I appreciate your efforts. I didn't ignore your offer for vent, I just can't get your gaming community website to open for some reason. If the offer is still good, my STEAM account is pvt_ingram. When they give us a fix we'll have to game together.

I am not seeing the problem anymore... I uninstalled "PunkBuster Services" via control panel "Program and Features". Rebooted. Reinstalled the service from a fresh download of pbsvc.exe from "http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe". Rebooted. Updated via pbsetup.exe.

This is a problem.. Seems to have started last week, here's a link to another thread on another forum seeing the same thing:

All problems seems to relate to Gigabyte mainboards.
Disable or shutdown ET6 in your joblist/processes.

Apparently the Gigabyte overclocking tool conflicts
with the latest pb update.

IT WORKS !!!!!!!!

I see you have ET6 installed; even though you may not be using it to overclock, try removing it anyway.

After all, if you're not overclocking, you have nothing to lose from removing it except for some wasted disk space!

I removed ET6 yesterday and then restarted my computer. Afterward I then successfully played BFBC2 for over an hour without BDOS. (I then logged off, no crash at all)

I have confirmed that removing ET6 has worked for me. I've played crashless since last night. If you aren't using it, you might as well remove it so you can keep playing BFBC2 until they release a fix.

Well guess what, you guys fixed it!!!!!!!!!!! Oh happy day!!!!!!! Get this I got a update from PB and here is what they told me to do. Which is below. I did that and still crashed. I did what you guys told me and that was the Trick, it worked like a charm. I told PB exactly what you guys said in hopes they now can figure it out, thank you so much guys this forurm is awesome.

Note #6: Please start pbsvc.exe and run through the uninstall process. After that, run it again and run through the install process. Make sure it uninstalls/installs correctly. Reboot the computer and then try playing again. Vista (and above) users need to start it explicitly with admin rights.

Please make sure you allow the service files in security software like virus scanners and/or firewalls. You will need to allow/unblock the services PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe from your "C:\Windows\system32\" folder (or "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\" on 64bit systems). In case of doubt, manually add both to your firewall's allow list. After the installation process you will only find PnkBstrA, so just make sure this process file is not blocked. Then try playing on a PB enabled server, in case of a kick, check if PnkBstrB was created and unblock it too.

I've been having this problem as well, and I removed the Easytune program but the bsod still gets me.

Edit: System specs:

Edit 2: Oh and I've also tried re-installing pb and bc2, tried with my realtek audio disabled, still bsod's

Hello,

If you have the Catalyst Control Center installed, uninstall it; if that doesn't help, please upload a jcgriff2 report:
