Solved BSOD while using Skype, 0x000000fe

I have been having intermittent crashes while using my webcam with skype. The crashes are very sporadic and don't seem to happen for any specific reason. I got the first one that I have had in quite a while today, so I'm not sure what's going on. Going through the BugCheck report, it seems that it is an error with USB and that "A hardware failure has occurred due to a bad physical address found in a hardware data structure. This is not due to a driver bug."

Code:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000fe (0x0000000000000005, 0xfffffa8003afd1a0, 0x0000000010de026e, 0xfffffa800304b428). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 042112-21093-01.

I believe this is related to my Logitech QuickCam 9000 Pro. Also, I have a feeling that the USB controller on the motherboard might be damaged, when I received this computer the USB ports on the front were plugged backwards into the header.

The OS is rull retail Windows 7 Ultimate x64, the machine was built sometime around 2006 and the install is less than a month old. I have attached the dump files and performance monitor report.

The uptime doesn't have anything to do with it, when I first got this machine going it crashed once, restarted, and then crashed again within an hour (while on skype.)

Uptime obvious has something to do with it for in your crashes they were all after more the 2-3 days of uptime. The smallest memory leak gets magnified over time.

Sir you are wrong. Some of the crashes occurred within half an hour of restarting. I just had it crash after about ten hours or so, although this is still a lot.

Anyway, I tried removing all of the devices and letting them reinstall to no avail, it still crashed about a minute and a half into a skype call.

There are nicer ways to tell someone that he/she has made an error in a statement or misinterpreted something.

That being said: are you still having problems with your computer?

Yeah, I'm still having issues. I have a feeling that it is my webcam though, but I don't have another one to test with at the moment...

The crashes indicate hard disk problems. Run the short and long tests with SeaTools for Windows and if SeaTools for Windows does not work, use SeaTools for DOS

You still have some long uptimes for your system. I do see a couple that you mentioned that happened shortly after starting the system, but there are also a few that were after 5-7 days of being up. The ones that started shortly after the system was up: had you just restarted at the time?

I wonder about memory corruption causing these due to the long uptimes. A restart of the system will not clear all memory corruption, so a short uptime after a long uptime could still lead to a crash due to the long uptime. To clear all corruption in temporary memory and reset hardware/software connections:
  1. Shut down and turn off the computer.
  2. Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
  3. "Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
  4. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
  5. (If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
  6. Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

Everything is running perfectly, the only issues I have had is when I use that webcam. I wish I had another camera I could use to test that variable, but it's the only one I have that has 64-bit drivers. Oh, on that note: this camera worked fine on Windows XP and Windows 8 32-bit.

Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing the camera drivers?

Have you tried installing just the drivers without any of the camera's software that might come with the webcam?

Sorry for the silence, but I have finally found a solution to the problem. I'm kicking myself for not thinking of this earlier, but I decided to drop a USB PCI card into the machine. I've been on skype for nine hours and counting and it still hasn't crashed. I wonder if the same problem might be causing the issues I have been having with my mouse in one game... Anyway, thanks for all of your help!
