BSOD while watching Twitch Stream, error 1000007e

Hello,

I updated my hardware(New CPU, GPU, and Motherboard) recently this past Wednesday and after everything is installed and running it seems to run fine. I attempted some Overclocking of my CPU and got my first BSOD(Unfortunately Windows did not save the dump file of this event) so I stopped and changed it back to normal thinking that caused it. The first BSOD happened while I was watching a stream on Twitch tv and it happened again a second time later while I was watching a Twitch stream. I have included my zip file with current information. Could it have something to with my GPU drivers since it happened during the same type of situation? I have the most recent driver installed 320.18 installed.

First BSOD was 0x0000003b error
Seond BSOD was 0x0000007e error

OS: Windows 7 Professional 64bit
CPU: AMD FX 8350
Motherboard: M5A97 LE R2
GPU: GTX 770

Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe ( nt!KxWaitForLockOwnerShip+12 )

Usual causes:  Insufficient disk space, Device driver, Video card, BIOS, Breakpoint with no debugger attached, Hardware incompatibility, Faulty system service, Memory, 3rd party remote control

It does seem that the graphics card driver is a possible cause at the moment, have you tried rolling back to the older WHQL driver? I do feel that the driver being blamed, could be due to the alterations made to the registry by the registry cleaner you have installed.

Install Service Pack 1:

Remove:

Start Menu\Programs\AVG

AVG is known to cause BSODs with Windows 7, please remove the program with the AVG Removal Tool, and then install and run full scans with these free and proven alternatives which work the best with the Windows operating system due to their lightweight nature on system resources and compatibility.

Install and perform full scans with:

• Microsoft Security Essentials | Protect against viruses, spyware, and other malware

Remove:

Start Menu\Programs\DAEMON Tools Pro

Download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

• Double click to open it.
• Click this button only:
• 
• If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.

Daemon Tools uses a driver called sptd.sys, which is known to cause BSODs with Windows 7. It is recommend you remove this program, and use Windows own in-built features or ImgBurn.

Remove:

Windows 7 doesn't require any programs which make changes to the operating system and registry, these programs tend to cause problems by modifying and deleting files.

Windows is a closed source system. Developers of registry cleaners do not have the core code of Windows 7 and are not working on definitive information, but rather they are going on past knowledge and experience. Automatic cleaners will usually have to do some guesswork.

Modifying registry keys incorrectly can cause Windows instability, or make Windows unbootable. No registry cleaner is completely safe and the potential is ever present to cause more problems than they claim to fix.

Registry cleaners cannot distinguish between good and bad. If you run a registry cleaner, it will delete all those keys which are obsolete and sitting idle; but in reality, those keys may well be needed by some programs or windows at a later time.

Windows 7 is much more efficient at managing the registry than previous Windows versions. If you run any other registry cleaner and do not know precisely what you are doing, you will have problems down the road. There are no gains to be had from using a registry cleaner and the risk is great.

I've been using those programs for years and had no problems until now. Unfortunately the gpu only has one available compatible driver. I had another bsod today and it was a 0x0124. It froze on the bsod screen so it didn't make a minidump file. I'll try uninstalling those programs and see if I can make it bsod again. If it bsods after that I'll try installing my AMD gpu. If it still bsods I'm not sure what the cause will be. I had a question. Do you think its okay that my CPU fx 8350 idle temp is 47 c? I have an antec h2o 620 on it. I would think that should be lower.

Have you checked inside the case for any dust or blockages in the fans, vents and heatsinks? 47*C seems okay.

Stop 0x124 is almost always a hardware related error.

Since, your graphics card driver seems to be a possible cause, then I would swap in your AMD GPU, to save time running a stress test and determining if the GPU is an issue.

Strange thing is its a brand new Gigabyte GTX 770 4gb just released a few weeks ago. It runs at 37 C idle and 43-45 C during a game or rendering video. I've been looking at the nvidia forums and some people are having issues with the drivers. However, besides that I can't believe I didn't install the Windows SP1 already. I guess it just downloaded it and didn't install it automatically. Because now everything seems stable. Haven't had a BSOD again yet. I'll give it another day and see if anything turns up. Its already been on for 24hrs straight with no crashes so I'm hopeful everything is okay at this point.
