BSOD

I built my first system today and everything went smoothly until it came time to install the 64 bit version of windows 7 home premium.

I have two hard drives in my system. An OCZ 60 GB SSD and a 250GB Western Digital.

I initially installed windows on my SSD and had no issues.. I then installed the various software that came with the mother board.

I could see both hard drive as options, when asked where to install windows 7 to but after installing it on my SSD I could not get windows 7 to detect my second hard drive at all.

I decided I would just do without it and installed the drivers for my video card, an XFX Radeon 5850 from the disk that came with the video card.

After installing the drivers everything was wonky.. Internet Explorer was freezing up and crashing.

At this point I decided to do a wipe and just reinstall the operating system to see if I could get windows to detect both my hard drives.

I formatted the SSD and started the install process again. Every time I install now I get the following message.

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

If this is the first ime you have seen this stop error.. etc... etc..

The Stop line itself varies.

Two examples are Stop : 0X0000003B and Stop 0X00000024 Followed by other varios numbers in parenthesis.

I completely disconnected the SSD after several BSOD's and tried installing windows 7 on the other hard drive with the same BSOD result.

The drives were both formatted and appear to be fine prior to installation. They both crash at around the same point during install.

There is an option for start up repair on the windows installation DVD which I tried with both drives to no avail.

I removed the cables from both drives and reseated them to see if that was the issue and still got the same BSOD.

Any help with this matter would be appreciated.. Thanks.

I followed your link and downloaded the file dban-2.3.6_i586.iso and burned it to a cd.

I put it in the dvd-rom drive and booted up.

All I get is the message "BOOTMGR is missing CTRL ALT DELETE to restart".

My dvd-rom drive is set to load first in BIOS. BIOS also detects my hard drive.

I burned the file to a cd twice in case there was an error with the first burn.

Same result.

ok

On around my 14th or so attempt I finally got Windows 7 completely installed on the 250 GB HD.

I think I must have some kind of hardware issue for it to have take this long though.

Any suggestions on what programs to run to diagnose what the problem is?

Thank you in advance.

It was a bad stick of ram, though it tested fine.

Replacing it with a second identical stick fixed all my issues.

Thank you for the responses.
