Hi Penais, ty for the feedback.

Just one small query: Using the Driver sweeper, Do I just remove nvidia drivers or all the drivers? or all of the drivers?

Many thanks!

Cheers many thanks panaies, I'll get back to it. Is the following by any chance related to the same issue, laptop shuts down without any notification or BSOD. I'd open a new thread as per rules but perhaps they're both related and so i'll also know whether they're two different or same issues :)

Is that happens when using only the battery or when connected to ac?

Also shutdown the laptop for 1 hour, start the laptop enter bios and post here the system and cpu temperatures.

For temperatures checking and more you can also download and use Speccy - Standard

Some laptops auto shuts down in high temperatures.

keep clean the cpu fan\cooler,you might be blocking air inlets or vents.

Use air spray and clean the cpu fan\cooler and keep the <breathing> area clean.

Hello Panais,

I have removed AVG and installed MS Sec essentials.

Now regarding the drivers...I do auto detect on Nvidia site and it gives me notice that I should get updates from OEM. I goto Acer site and the latest driver there is the same as mine..should I just proceed and install the Nvida 540m notebook drivers from their website regardless of the auto-detection notice?

Regards

The important is to Find and download the most recent software\driver for your nvidia, from nvidia website or acer.

Even if the most recent software\driver is the same with that in your laptop follow these steps

Download and install driver sweeper Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper
http://www.nvidia.com/content/global/global.php
Uninstall your nvidia software\driver,restart in safe mode, run driver sweeper and clean any nvidia remaining fragments, restart in normal mode.

Install the new nvidia software\driver,restart.

Update DirectX Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - DirectX End-User Runtime

Hi, did all that.

I'm not getting BSOD for that anymore, nonetheless, I'm still getting unexpected sudden shutdown/restarts and [ii]BSODs.

I've attached the BSOD dumps.

I also do not think Overheating is causing the shutdown/restarts as I asserted earlier. When I touch the body of the laptop after the shutdown, its not hot at all any place. Infact when I do play starcraft 2 or League of Legends, It has never crashed, thats when things get warm.

Also, as you said I must goto BIOS and check temperature, my bios does not display Temperature information, when playing League of Legends, Core temp does not go over 80 degrees.
