When I upgraded from Firefox 43 to Firefox 44 I lost all my passwords. It appears if you were using an older version of Firefox along with Norton Identity Safe, Norton Identity Safe set a configuration switch within Firefox which was activated by the upgrade to Firefox 44. Several days ago I reported the missing passwords after the Firefox upgrade and working with Bugzilla they were able to determine what triggered the missing passwords with Firefox. A hotfix should be coming out shortly.

The older version of ID Safe (when is still worked with Firefox) set an internal switch in the Firefox config file that triggered a erasure of Firefox passwords in Firefox 44. Mozilla has developed a fix for this which should be available shortly. Unfortunately it will not help anyone that has lost their passwords unless they have a backup copy of logins.json.

From reading the Bugzilla messages on this bug, they have indicated the bug is resolved and the Firefox 44 update should be coming out shortly.

Do you have by any chance a file named "logins.json"? if not, look for a file called "signons.sqlite", there's where Firefox stores your saved passwords, if you have the later, maybe using an old version of Firefox and creating a sync account to store it should fix that problem for you, generating a new logins.json file when you upgrade the old version...

Basically, logins.json is an upgraded version of the signons.sqlite that stores your passwords...

Just a thought...

I did have the logins.json backed up and once I replaced the file I recovered my passwords. Because I has the whole Firefox directory backed up which is in the Appdata/Roaming I was able to recreate the loss and give the debugging logs to the Firefox developers to assist them in finding the bug and coming up with a fix.
