Can i connect an old drive with windows7 on my pc to make backups?

I've two old faulty(ish) sata drives that i just put aside when they started failing that i'd like to remove some videos and pictures from but i'm not sure if i'll have boot problems if i connect another drive with another windows on my pc.
How should i proceed?

Hello Kasparovski,

SATA drives are hot swappable, so if you like you could just connect them to your PC while it's running, copy what you want from them, then disconnect the drives when finished.

Nice, what if i run into troubles with some files, any software than can help with that?
And if i want to keep one in can i go to disk management and somehow take out the bootable properties of the disk?

After you copy what you want from it, you could format the drive. However, if they are faulty and/or dying, then I wouldn't trust them since you could permanently lose the data on them if they fail.

Since the drives are faulty, I'm not sure anything would help if you are not able to copy a file over.
