Can I make an image of a mac on a NTFS partition (windows)

Hi - I am trying to make a clone of my father's mac laptop.

I have an external hardrive which is NTFS - can this be NTFS to accept the MAC copy of the hard drive?

(I know this is a windows forum but u guys are the best ;) Also, NTFS is a windows based partition type I think hence the question)

Depends on the program that is doing the backup, and the format it is using. Technically NTFS is just a filesystem, and anything that can read it could read the data. However, if you're imaging it, it will depend on the previous questions.

You can only mount an NTFS formatted disk read-only on a MAC.
