Solved Can I use Avast with Norton 2010?Is Avast is light AV?

I m using Norton 2010 but thinking to take Extra security.
So should i use Avast with it or MSE ????
Which one will be lighter & better ???????

It is not advisable to use two Antivirus programs at once as it may cause conflicts. Choose one or the other and stay with it. My personal opinion is that Avast is a LOT better than Norton's.

More people have issues with Norton, than they do actually successfully using Norton.

Such as what? Please specify and give examples. I'm currently running Avast! on all my OSes, both 32-bit and 64-bit, and I haven't had any issues whatsoever.

Some advanced features such as Boot Scan and Kernel Protection module won't work in x64

Norton will throw a fit if another scanner is active! Especially if it continually scan Nortons own files. It really, really hates it, as do many others.
I would just use Norton myself, but its your call.

However, as already stated, you should only run one active scanning virus program, regardless what you choose.

for secondary scanning:
Something like Malwarebytes, that only scans manually, is fine to run along side it however and Norton will co-operate with it.

Not on my computer it doesn't. The only decent AV from norton worth a look is the gaming edition. Norton has never been good with computers but recently they do seem to have sorted it out. However avast is(imo) better than norton.

I believe that norton has tried their best to make their suite as good as possible =D
Do you know their latest version includes jumplist support and integration with control panel, etc..
Also, I believe that this assertion is true: that norton's product is more optimized for 64 bit os, though I cannot back up that assertion. Since Avast is a free solution, they do not have as much pressure as a company like Norton.

I also agree that running two antivirus is horrible. If one of those two antiviruses is Norton, it's unthinkable.
I suppose the fact is: Trust Norton to protect your computer, or Trust Avast to protect your computer (though I would personally go with Norton). However, don't trust them if they are together.
