I was trying to copy multiple folders to DVD for backup and was getting ongoing errors trying to use Roxio and/or LG Burning tools.

Another post recommended I go with Imgburn because apparently my issues were with file name length issues which I guess Roxio/LG do not deal well with.

After a little trial and error I got ImgBurn to create my backup DVDs without issues.

Now before getting to the successful burns with ImgBurn..I used about a dozen or so DVD+R DL disks...and would like to save these for re-use latter if possible ?

Here's the "Discovery" log from Imgburn and attached are two screen shots from Windows explorer info.

Is there a way to re-format the lost DVD+R DL disk used up previously ?

Not possible, sorry. Unless the disks are specifically re-writeable, they can only be written to once.

Hold on...

It is physically impossible to rewrite or somehow format and reuse CD-R and DVD-R/DVD+R discs, otherwise they wouldn't be 'R'.

However, according to ImgBurn your discs appear to have open sessions on them. That means as long as the discs aren't actually filled to capacity, you can still write more data to them. Depending on the filesystem used, you can mark already-written files as 'deleted' so that once the session is closed and the disc finalized, those files won't show up any longer.
Current Profile: DVD+R DL
Disc Information:
Status: Incomplete
State of Last Session: Incomplete
Erasable: No
Sessions: 1
Free Sectors: 2,085,440
Free Space: 4,270,981,120 bytes
Free Time: 463:27:65 (MM:SS:FF)
Next Writable Address: 2088384
This warrants a second look. If each of these discs has only had a little bit of data written to it and the session on all of them is still open, they remain usable for having more files written to them.
However, you cannot write an entire image (containing a new, separate filesystem) to them.

The suffix has to be RW to be re-writable. The R only means you can write to it. If the session is not closed or finalized, then more data could be added but nothing already on the disk could be changed nor deleted.

ImgBurn is not multisession software. I don't believe those DLs are reusable in any way.

As I said, more data can be added until the open session is closed, and already-written files can be marked deleted at that time. They'll still be on the disc but won't have a reference in the file/folder tree.

It's not necessary to write multiple sessions, although I do believe ImgBurn can deal with them. In any case, adding to an open session is not an issue.
