Cannot access NAS after assigning static ip

hi,

here's my problem -

i have a WD Mybooklive and i have assigned a static ip address and net mask to it.
After doing this i cannot access it on my computer which has a DHCP ip address.

i can however access it's web page by typing it's ip address into a browser

i cannot access it by typing \\mybooklive\{share name} after assigning a static ip


here's my current set up -

NAS and computer both connected to router via ethernet cables

Any helpwould be appreciated thanks

What happens if you try to get to the drive via:
\\its IP address\{share name}
