Cannot Enable Wireless Adapter

THIS HAS BEEN SOLVED AS I GOT A NEW ADAPTER

Hello everyone :D.

First thing.
I have integrated LAN in my PC which I dont use so I disabled it in BIOS.
Than I installed the driver for my Belkin F5D7050.
I go into the Adapter Settings and than it comes up with my adapter disabled so I click on Enable and than the box pops up and says Enabling than Enabled but still its Disabled as its gray. Sometimes the box freezes when Enabling. And yes I have clicked Refresh after I tried to enable.

Anyone got clues, there was no problems when I was connecting with Vista.

Thanks Guys:geek:

Thanks Kari, However that posts is totally different to my problem, I cannot enable the wireless adapter and I cannot connect to internet if the wireless adapter is disabled.

In my opinion it is not a totally different problem. Search this forum for Belkin and you find that Belkin Wireless Adapter, both USB and card, have some known compatibility issues with Windows 7.

I'm sometimes using a Belkin Wireless USB adapter that has about the same chipset and drivers than your adapter. It don't work at all with Belkin drivers.

dont quite get it, so my USB adapter wont work with original Belkin drivers ?

Does your USB adapter work ? If yes what drivers do you use.

Thanks

Like I tried to tell you, Belkin USB adapters have known issues with Windows 7.

Try this, as told on the thread I told you earlier:

  • disconnect Belkin USB
  • uninstall all Belkin drivers using Device Manager
  • uninstall Belkin software using Control Panel > Programs and Features
  • reboot your computer
  • reconnect Belkin USB
  • let Windows install the drivers
The attached picture shows which driver I have after doing precisely as described above. The adapter works perfectly. Please don't feel confused, Belkin adapters are equipped with Marvell Yukon chipsets.

A colleague of mine also told, that a Belkin driver 3xxx from this site should work even with series 4xxx and 5xxx adapters. I have not tried it, so I can not confirm.

Thanks, but everytime i plug it into USB it just comes up with "windows could not install the hardware software " and when I go on choose manually and than click Network Adapters than Marvell it comes up with some random PCI adapters.

Dont know what to do now (d)

Did you try that? Or maybe this could be something for you?

Just an FYI, I had my belkin running ok by initially running the setup.exe in "troubleshoot compatiblity mode" and choosing vista as stated above. I decided to play around with it and removed and but could not get it working again. It would install but I was not able to "enable" the adapter. After reading through these forums I uninstalled everything, rebooted and plugged in the adapter. Windows could not find the proper drivers. I then went to detect it manually and I selected "linksys/cisco usb adapter from the list because belkin was not listed. Installed those drivers and its working absolutely perfect.

Thanks all for the posts!

Ron, thanks for info. I did not know Belkin works with Linksys drivers.
