1) I have had W7 64-bit for three years now and this week my cptr crashed and would not even boot into safe mode. So I had to use my recovery disks to restore it to its promised "out of the box" state. But I am having some real frustration. I set the computer up with myself as the administrator "Jerry Isaacs" and proceeded to try to reconstruct everything pretty much as it was. However, everytime I reboot I get a message approx as follows:
You have logged in with a temp. profile. Files created will be deleted when you log off. Log off and try logging on later.
Then when I log off and log in as "Jerry Isaacs" all is lost. One-click has been re-disabled. The background is wrong. All of my newly created desktop icons have been removed and the desktop icons are rearranged. All this after waiting about four minutes to go through the cycle of reboot and changing users.
This didn't happen when I first purchased the computer.
Somewhere on your forum I got this advice: Use regedit and go to hkeylocalmachine\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\profilelist and delete the line with .bak at the end.
I cannot find any such line anywhere after I navigate to profilelist.
2) If I ever resolve this issue, I would also like to know how to boot on and autoswitch to numlock off.
I am new to this forum. How will I ever find this thread again, and will I be informed if someone responds?
Thanks for your help
