for at least the past 2 weeks, every time I turn off my computer it says it's installing an update. Then several days ago, I discovered it's the same update each time! It's Security Update for Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer 2003 (KB949041) When I click on more information, it says this update is for:

Supported operating systems: Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, Windows Vista, Windows XP Service Pack 2

But my computer has Windows 7, not any of these other systems! Plus, I have PowerPoint 2010, not 2003!

I've already run the fixit tool many, many times! It seems to temporarily fix it but not permanently. Yesterday I hid this update but today it's back again!!

How can I permanently delete this update since it doesn't apply to my system?

I have a Dell One19 all in one computer. Here are the specs if you need them:

wow! You're good! I uninstalled it, shut down & now when I logon, don't have any more updates!! It was weird though, in my programs list it showed PowerPoint 2010 but when I uninstalled it, it said PowerPoint 2003!! I had no idea it was listed like that......I never used it that much anyway.

Thanks!

Did you uninstall PowerPoint or the PowerPoint Viewer? They are two toally different things.
Which version of Office do you have installed (and licensed?)

All editions of Office 2010 come with PowerPoint included.
Can you still open Powerpoint?
If not, then you uninstalled the wrong thing.
