Cannot re-install windows in lenovo ideapad flex 10

That is not as bad as it sounds, as you can still boot from a usb as long as it has UEFI boot files on it. All Microsoft install USBs made with their Media Creation Tool are capable of both UEFI and Legacy boot, for example.

tried using media creation tool and booted from usb but wont detect it. still same issue.

Bree thank you once again, I have tried this with disk part bootable pendrive and rufus created usb bootable pendrive but give always no bootable device, hit any key. I have tried all bios setting to detect usb bootable pendrive but failed. please help

i have exact problem. no legacy option other than UEFI in CMOS. very strange... could be corrupted bios???

Just a positive update today:

Out of frustration i tried everything possible even to the point of being ridiculous. I managed to finally install the OS (win10), but everything was done in a weird fashion and out of my 30 years in fixing laptops and desktop this is the first time i have done this

what i did;

i tried booting from bootable USB using media creation tool but without success, could not detect the usbor any bootable media.

so i tried removing the harddrive and again booted via bootable USB and was surprised that it booted but when i tried again and inserted the harddrive it wont detect the usb and will say no bootable media etc...

So i let it boot via bootable USB without the harddrive and selected TROUBLESHOOT then there was an option for the UEFI firmware settings and then at this time i inserted the harddrive (like plug n play), i was glad it detected the harddrive on next reboot.

Then everything went through as normal... I am happy to be able to install the OS.

Note: (Still BIOS did not show any option for legacy support)

Hope this helps

i received a lenovo ideapad flex10 with the same problem, when entering bios there is no legacy support but only UEFI. even if i disable the Secure boot option it will only show the harddrive and can not detect any USB.. now i am thinking this has a corrupted bios. This netbook came to me with soldered cmos batteries and some joints. other lenovo laptops i have checked can switch from legacy to UEFI and vice versa. This doesnt have that option and only in UEFI.

Plug in the usb stick
power on the machine and hold down Fn key and keep tapping F12

in theory that should bring up a one time boot menu with the usb showing.

If it doesn't show up, you need to make sure the usb is efi bootable.

What you ended up doing sounds very weird.

Done this the first time but will never detect the usb.
