Solved Cannot run SFC from Repair Disk

Booting to my Win 7 Repair Disk and chosing Command Prompt Option, I enter as per Tutorial:
sfc /scannow /offbootdir=e:\ /offwindir=e:\windows

e: is my dvd drive where repair disk is.

The message I get is "Windows Resource protection could not start the repair service."

SFC never runs. What am I missing. Thanks in advance

The tutorial explains a few steps earlier that you need to determine Win7's drive letter by how it is listed when Repair detects it here:

Supply the Win7 drive letter which WinRE provides, as it can see letters differently than they appear in Windows.

Try this.

Click Start, type Services.msc. Double-click Windows Modules Installer. Set its Startup type to Manual. Click OK.

Now try running the scan.

Thanks for the extra input Bill. I did get it to scan as per Gregs post. I had checked to make sure the module in services was set to manual.

I've faced this issue before. I ran the following commands to fix Windows resource protection could not start the repair service error.

Follow the steps below

1.Run Command Prompt as an administrator
2.Run this command sc config trustedinstaller start= auto then followed by command net start trustedinstaller
