Cannot share new (user created) library on Homegroup

Hi there,

I've set up sharing on my Windows 7 PC and Laptop, which is working fine. However, I've created several custom libraries on my PC to cover various projects I'm working on (e.g. London Project). However, from my Laptop, when I try to access the libraries on my PC (via the Homegroup in the navigation pane), I can only access the default libraries (ie Documents, Music, Pictures and Video). I can't see the new libraries (e.g. London Project) that I've created. Unfortunately, I can't seem to work out how to share these new libraries I've created - tried all the usual 'Right click - Properties' etc., and going via the Homegroup settings to no avail.

I *can*, however, access the folders which are indexed within these new libraries on my laptop, *if* I go via the 'Network' in the navigation pane. BUT this doesn't show me the libraries at all.

Any ideas greatly appreciated (but not as much as a definitive solution).

Cheers, Hawkeye.

When you right click, share with, what do you see?

Notes

  • If you don't see the Share with menu, you might be trying to share an item on a network or other unsupported location. It also won't appear when you select files outside your personal folder.
  • If you try to share something in one of the Windows 7 Public folders, the Share with menu will display an option called Advanced sharing settings. This option takes you to Control Panel, where you can turn Public folder sharing on or off.
And to access from other machine:
Help
To access shared files, folders, or libraries on other homegroup computers
  1.
Click the Start button
    windows
, and then click your user name.

In the navigation pane (the left pane), under Homegroup, click the user account of the person whose files you want to access.
  2. In the file list, double-click the library you want to access, and then double-click the item you want.

Thanks for your reply.
Because its a Library I'm trying to share, and not a file/folder, right-click doesn't provide the 'Share with' option that you get by right-clicking ordinary files/folders.

Normally, to share libraries, you'd go into your Homegroup settings and tick which of the default libraries to share. From there, if I follow the 'How do I share assitional libraries' link, it explains to go to Start - Username where I should see my libraries but... I only see the default ones, not the new ones I've created.
