Solved Can't Access Update Catalog?

I hate to create more than 1 post, but I am working through several issues in trying to get my new Win 7 install to update properly. Have searched on here and not seeing my specific problems.
Following the MS Support recommended fixes, and one of the steps says to download a KB, and gives a link to a download in the MS Update Catalog. When I click on it, it takes me to the catalog page, with a pop-up saying "This website wants to install the following Add-On: 'Microsoft Update Catalog, from Microsoft Corporation'". When I click on the Install button, approve the UAC, it says "An add-on for this website failed to run". This leaves me at the Update Catalog page, but it is a 'dumb' page, with no links or means to access it. And no hints on how to deal with the failed add-on install.
Thanks in advance for any advice you folks can provide.

What KB number is it?

As far as getting your OS upto date with regard to WU's [Windows Updates], it is far easier and quicker to use DISM++.

Thanks for your reply, Paul. It was KB3177467 SSU update. I did find a thread in here with a direct link to download that KB, which did install. It didn't fix my problem, but I am thinking I may need access to that MS Update Catalog at some point, and I can't figure out why the necessary add-on won't install for me.
I am not familiar with DISM++? Is that a utility, or?

I just Googled KB3177674 and it appears that there is no such update because there are no entries for it!

I am not familiar with DISM++? Is that a utility, or?

DISM++ [Deployment Image Servicing and Management] Overview

DISM++ is a FREE implementation tool that has the ability to perform Windows Updates [WU]. Some of the advantages [but not all] are:

[1] The GUI is very easy to understand and use.
[2] It is much faster than M$’s WU because it uses a different engine.
[3] It downloads the latest WU DB from the M$ servers, scans your OS, and then lists the updates available.
[4] It doesn’t install superseded updates like M$ does.
[5] It gives you the option of what you want to install.
[6] The pre-ticked updates are what is recommended and are similar to the WU critical and recommended updates. The un-ticked updates are similar to the WU optional updates.

[7] It warns you if an update:

• Includes telemetry.
• Has known issues with certain hardware.
• Needs exclusive access.
• Is suspect.
• Your OS doesn't need it.
• Has any other known issues.

[8] It doesn’t require re-booting between updates.
[9] It can be used to either update an install.wim image OFFLINE, or to update the LIVE OS.

Hello Paul, sorry that was a typo on my part, as I mentioned in a later comment, it was KB3177467, which was a critical security update from October 2018.
I did eventually get my Update issues fixed, (will go into detail in my other post regarding Unable to Install Updates).
THANK YOU for your assistance, and I am going to find and use DISM++ for my future updates!
