Can't Save As PDF in Office 2007

OK, probably the last thing I might suggest. Folks having problems with Quicken and PDF files were switching to another PDF printer to do that job. The one they were talking about is noted below, but I have no experience with it. If you do install it, instead of "saving as", you go to print and select the PDF printer.

And no, I am not saying Intuit has anything to do with this problem ;)

Found the Problem

I used the ProcessMonitor that Killercat suggested and found that the beta antivirus version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 was causing the problem. When I turned off the AV, the Save As PDF function worked fine.

I'll pass this info on to Kaspersky and/or see if others have reported the problem.

Thanks all for your help in pin pointing the problem.

brilliant

I had exactly the same problem, finally decided to fix it (save as is so much more convenient than print) tried reinstalling the Save as PDF software, nothing.

Then I disabled kaspersky antivirus beta, and it works without a problem!

So that is obviously the issue. Now I just need to figure out how to make it work without disabling kaspersky.

Did you have any luck?

No I didn't. I posted the problem at Kaspersky beta forum and never got a response. I figured no response meant they didn't take my problem too seriously so I went to another AV program.

They just lost a customer, due to their lack of concern.

Hi,

I had the same problem with Karspersky and office 2007 sp2 (with pdf export integrated).

You have to put word 2007 as a trusted application in Karspersky (right click on the K icon >> settings >> Trusted zone >> Trusted applications then add word 2007).

And after that it works, but you can't save as pdf if you use an equation with the built-in editor (export failed due to an unexpected error).

Hope this helps. And if you find a solution for equations, I will be glad to hear about you.

Saltgrass, I appreciate you interest in my problem. See my answer in bold text, below.

I don't remember if you did this, but you might try running Word as admin first. Right click on the shortcut in the Start Menu, properties-compatibility tab, run as admin at the bottom. [Tried running Word, as you suggested Admin, but I still got the same message "The file in use by another computer or user."]

Do you remember if you installed Word as Admin? [No I didn't install Office 2007 as Admin. Let's say I didn't knowingly run it as Admin.] I think there should be very large warnings about always installing as Admin, because folks that used XP think the user/admin in W7/Vista is the same but it isn't.

Did you ever change the default saving folder? [Yes, but there was no change.]

Greg
Thanks. This helped me alot. Now I'm making PDFs.
