Please run another fixlist: (Post #16)

Code:

When FRST is done, please open Chrome...
•Click the icon with three horizontal lines to view the Google Chrome options menu, click Settings, and then select Extensions (on the far left.)
•Recheck to make sure Norton Identity Safe is gone.

Now, download a new MSE installer, and give it a go.

Any progress?

Last, check to see if the Windows Installer service is running...

Click: Start
In the Search programs and files box, type services.msc, and then press Enter.

Right-click Windows Installer in the Serices window, and then click: Start
Exit the Services window.

Next, click Start, and in the Search programs and files box, type: command prompt
Right-click Command Prompt (at the top of the list presented), and then click: Run as administrator

At the prompt, type or copy/paste (with mouse), and then press Enter:

Code:
MSIEXEC /REGSERVER

(Do not include the word code. Also, there is no notification on whether this command succeeded or failed.)

Try the install of Microsoft Security Essentials again.

If:
-The above does not resolve the issue, wherever or whatever the problem is, it escapes me, and there are too many possibilities.
-MSE does not want to install, there are other good options.
-Panda does not suit you, there are other free options:
Best Free Antivirus Software

I run Panda, and scan with Malwarebytes | Free Anti-Malware & Internet Security Software
Make sure you select the FREE version, and not the Trial version.

hi, extension is removed but same original error - can you check the file attached - ive just run it again

And does the ATI driver no longer working have anything to do with the Norton problem exposing my computer when disabling protective functions?

The Chrome extension for Norton Identity Safe is gone.

However, I am not aware the ATI driver would have anything to do with the Norton problem.
If you need assistance with the ATI driver, you may want to post your concern in the Drivers forum:
Drivers - Windows 7 Help Forums

My regrets for throwing in the towel, but, I have run out of ideas. Maybe someone else will post a suggestion that will help.

Thank you for your cooperation in following all the instructions provided.

Have a great holiday season!!!
