Can't uninstall Adobe Acrobat X in Safe Mode - no Print Spooler

In my office we have a laptop machine that is pretty screwed up, and will only boot up using Safe Mode. I needed to uninstall several programs from the machine before installing them on a new machine, due to having limited seats for the software. I have uninstalled everything except Adobe Acrobat X Standard.

When I try to uninstall it, it cannot complete the process because the Print Spooler service isn't running. When I go to Services and try to start it, I get an Error 1084: This service cannot be started in Safe Mode.

So what the heck am I supposed to do to uninstall this thing, so that Adobe will know that license is free to install on the other machine? I have searched the net for hours and tried several registry edits related to printing and print spoolers, but to no avail. There are currently no printers installed on the machine, not even the Adobe PDF printer.

I have no clue what's wrong with the machine when booting into normal mode. I usually get a blue screen immediately after the Starting Windows logo if I try to boot into normal mode. We're probably going to junk this thing or maybe reformat after this, but I just need to get this blasted Adobe software off of there first.

Hello there.

If you're planning to use the licence on another machine, you don't need to uninstall the program, just go to the program (in this case, Adobe Acrobat X) follow these steps:

Deactivate on one computer before using your software on another

Before trying to activate on a different computer, deactivate on the computer on which you last used the product.
Important: Uninstalling your product on one computer does not deactivate it on that computer. Explicitly deactivate by following these directions.

  • Make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
    • In Creative Suite 4 and 5, choose Help > Deactivate. In Creative Suite 5, deactivate on virtual machines after you finish working on them.
    • In Creative Suite 3, choose Help > Deactivate to start the Deactivation wizard. When you finish, select Erase My Serial Number From This Computer.
    • If you uninstalled your software without deactivating, reinstall on the old computer and deactivate. If your old computer is not available, contact Adobe Support.

lol all that for nothing... it appears that Acrobat was never even activated on that machine. It's been running in trial mode and now asks for a serial when I open Acrobat. So I guess I won't worry about it and just install it on the new machine, and this old one can go ahead and be reformatted.
