Changed 500gb SSD for 1tb SSD but the extra 500gb doesnt show

I extended the volume but 'E' got bigger while 'C' remains the same. Any ideas?

I think you need to right click E and delete the partition, then right click C and use extend partition. It can be done, I just can't remember how it's done properly.

I don't think you can do it with the built-in Windows disk management tool. You need something like this tool: Best Free Partition Manager for Windows | MiniTool Partition Wizard Free

You Will need to delete the E: partition, then move the unallocated space so that it is adjacent to the C: partition. Once you have unallocated space next to the C: partition, then you can expand C: into that space.

I don't know what program you have used to clone the 500G into the 1T drive, but normally you can resize the partitions.

Anyway, you don't need to delete anything.
With MiniTool Partition Wizard:
- you first resize the E: partition on the left side (shrink)
- then move the System Reserved partition to the right (on to the unallocated space created)
- then resize the C: partition to the the unallocated space created on the right
- Apply

Any drive change is risky. Make sure you still have the original 500G drive

Thanks chaps. I increased the partition size Ok but have another problem trying to increase the space for restore points. It pops up the error shown which is an activation error. I have activated windows successfully but the error keeps popping up??

Thanks SIW2 that seems to have worked. But what is the difference between C:system and C: ?? If I create a restore point for c:system is that good enough?

Please don't use external links for images. On the Quick Reply window, click on the paper clip (top right), browse to the image file - upload

(SIW2, correct if I'm wrong) All partitions has an ID. When you clone a disk you create partitions that has different ID from the original disk. That is why you have C: (missing) = Windows can't find the partition as the new disk has a C: partition with a new ID.
Just set C: (missing) to off (Turn off System Protection).
After cloning a disk I always boot from a Win 7 installation disk and do a Boot Repair so it sets the correct ID to the boot loader.
