Hey guys!

I am brand new and this is my first post on the site. I am also not extremely knowlwdgable about computers. I have a OS of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit with 3GB of memory. I hope this is sufficent.

When I am on a web page reading an article, after a certain amount of time the page will automatically refresh/renew to the top of the page & I need to scroll down and find where I was. I did try for an hour to repair the problem on my own by going on the windows help site. It said right click on desk top- click screen resolution- and then I tried two options with display & monitor& one which goes into "advanced setttings". The bottom line is 60 Hertz is the only option in the "drop down menus" that I seen.

The problem is major annoying. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thank you

The problem has nothing to do with Windows itself. Its actually a problem with the web page. I really cannot tell you whats going on without seeing it for myself. But the issue you mention isn't something that can be fixed via Windows settings.

What browser are you using and what web page(s) do this? :)

Most news and sports sites automatically refresh the page when it's updated, for instance if a new score comes in or somebody famous kicks the bucket. (If somebody famous hit a home run to win the game and then dropped dead it would be a real mess...) Depending on the site, it could be normal behavior.

How often a web page refreshes is usually set by the web site. When you tried to fix it you were playing around with the Monitor refresh rate 60 Hertz is the normal default for a LCD monitor it refreshes 60 times a second.

The Opera browser lets you set any time interval for a pages reload , right click on the page & select reload every then custom. I don't think other browsers have any options for it but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the thoughts. Much appreciated!

Anybody else who is sitting reading an article where they do not need to touch the screen/keyboard for say five minutes or so because it is a large article and you run into this, please share.

I am using (I.E for my browser.Old habbits die hard) Did use ( Opera) for a while as a second options

Example of my challenge is: I am on Yahoo home page & I see an article I want to read and click on the article, begin reading and then after "say" five minutes (without touching the keyboard) the page will refresh as I explained. When I set up the home page, it gives five options for refreshing. I hit - One Hour- so I would not run into this. However, since one person said it was not a Windows issue, I went back into my homepage settings and Turned the Darn Refresh option Off completely and will refresh myself although thiss hould not be the answer I realize.

Any other thoughts will be appreciated, however, I will go back and open that same article to see if the change I made corrects the problem.

Thank you and I will let you know if this corrected the issue.

Please do - your experience will probably help someone else, too. :)

Another thought, in case the problem is still there, is to try another browser just for the sake of comparison. If the problem goes away at that point you'll know to focus your efforts on IE. If not, it's probably the page itself.

Here's an example of what I was referring to earlier, though I doubt it applies to Yahoo! pages:

Thanks for your thoughts.

Just seen ur post so as you can see I used Opera. Just like and prefer IE. Maybe the data I just provided about touching the keyboard while reading is when I notice this. Its like the page is saying "Keep Scrolling the article." As I said it will only let me read the article for about 4/5 minutes without refreshing. Some articiles are short so no problem but the longer ones.......
Thank you

Thanks STVE,
really liked the add on you mentioned, however, when I went to that site it said of I have IE I have to pay 5 bucks a month but is free for firefox & a couple other browsers. I.E makes it hard for me to like the browser sometimes.

Also, for any one with this challenge, turing off your refresher in yahoo home page does NOT solve the problem and it occurs on mutiple web pages. I will keep working on it and may give Firefox a shot but when I get use to something..........
I am surprised this not a common issue for many people.
If I get to the bottom off it, I will share for the next person in line and give back!

Thank You!
