Choosing a monitor !

Which of these monitors is better for gaming and watching movies ?

PHILIPS 238G4DHSD

or

LG IPS237L.

Keep in mind that the LG one is a bit more expensive.

I like the design of the LG one,but I heard that LG lied about it's 1.2 mm bezel,which really sucks...

basically you want the highest resolution and smallest screen size. that allows for more PPI and makes the image look sharper. IE: a 1080p 40" monitor will look terrible compared to a 1080p 23" monitor as far as sharpness. if gaming and movies is your primarily concern, look for a 2ms response time. 5ms is most common, so don't go above 5ms. I noticed a difference between 5ms and 2ms. just don't get higher than 5ms. as far as the frequency of it, 59-60Hz is fine IMO. people may argue they can tell a difference between 60-120Hz, but I really cant. if you can find one cheap for 75Hz, go for it. if you game with v-sync enabled, on all games, the 75Hz might help you there since vsync matches your screen frequency. but IMO its not worth it. they get pricy.

You could also look at the Dell IPS super sharp range. I have 2 of them. I will always go IPS until I can't afford it.

If you can't perceive the difference between 60 and 120 Hz, then it's highly doubtful you can tell a difference between 2 and 5 ms response time. For regular or even heavy gameplay, almost any decent monitor made today will be acceptable. You aren't going to get more kills on Call of Duty or Battlefield by getting a display with 2ms response time. IPS/PLS panels inherently have more response time but have a much higher quality panel than a regular TN panel. I'd take IPS and more response time over TN and low response time 10 times out of 10.

Samsung, Dell, Asus, LG....they make good displays. BenQ makes some interesting stuff, especially for gaming, as well

Just wanted to tell you,that I would go with a BenQ monitor,since they've got great monitors for gaming,but in Croatia,there's a small market for monitors,so yeah...
