Clone C-partition of 1st HD onto C-partition of 2nd HD possible?
Ok, I have both Acronis True Image [fee] and Macrium Reflect [free]. I understand both can:
-- clone a whole physical hard-drive onto another whole physical hard-drive
-- make an image of any HD en toto, or make an image of each partition -- [saving image] onto another HD, ext or int.
I can't find a way to "tell" either program what I wanted to do:
Clone C-partition of 1st HD onto the C-partition of the 2nd HD. Is there a way to do this, if not with Acronis or Macrium - what program?

I see I forgot this earlier:
After cloning, the 2nd HD is disabled via CTL-PNL/Device Manager, and parked.

I use Acronis TI 2010 Home with Plus Pack on my desktop, and don't know of a partition-only clone option (maybe newer versions have it?).

However, in a recent thread: http://www.sevenforums.com/backup-restore/371041-issue-macrium-reflect-cloning-windows-os-drive.html

You can't clone partitions, it is copying the whole disk bit-by-bit, and an exact copy of each other.

I am not sure if you can clone in Windows but are you booting with Macrium media to do the cloning?

Actually, you can clone individual partitions, as well as an entire disk, if using Macrium Reflect. See here, starting with post #15. Macrium Reflect's default setting for is use Intelligent Sector Copy, which is a fancy way of saying it only works with occupied sectors and ignores the empty ones.

Also, it isn't necessary to use MR's restore media to clone the disk or a partition of a disk if MR is installed on the disk being cloned.

I forgot the link. :o http://www.sevenforums.com/backup-restore/361659-cloning-individual-partitions-2.html#post3007905

I suggest you reply to us in this thread so the results can benefit others reading it.

Hope this helps.
