I have a business machine, very old. It came with Win 2000, and was leased out to business then returned for more recent models. These are eagerly snapped up, and I have had this one for a number of years. But it just keeps on going and going, and I like it very much.

I put Windows 7 on, just for the heck of it. But surprisingly it ran very well. I can't do very much as I can't find a graphics driver for it. So everything is 640x, very large. I searched all over, even went to their web site. Their graphics drivers only go up to XP, not even Vista.

Is there someone out there who can find a graphics driver that will work? I was experimenting putting Photoshop CS 2 on, and the little Compaq couldn't even load it with XP. With Windows 7, Photoshop CS4 not only was able to open but ran normally. Not slow at all. Course I didn't do anything challenging, just normal adjustments. But still I was really impressed. I just can't use this computer unless I can find a driver for the graphics so I can change the resolution. It has the integrated type.

I had one of these in the past. From what I remember the small form factor still had 1 or two expansion slots. WIthout knowing the exact model of EN have you looked at a separate graphics card ... you may need to find an ISA compatible card but that should make finding drivers easier.

I thought about putting in a seperate card, but that will add to the heat buildup and this model is just so small, that could be a problem. And I have a couple of others, one for my aunt and one just for surfing, etc. The maximum ram it will take is 512k, and nothing larger than an 80 gig hard drive. But can you imagine actually running Photoshop CS 4 on a machine like this? With Windows 7 it did.

I am talking myself into it, would the heat buildup cause a problem? I wouldn't get any super duper card, to help avoid the added heat.

Jane,
a basic graphics card of the type which this PC could handle would contribute little to heat build up in the machine. BTW I am pretty sure you could upgrade the specs on this machine .. certainly the RAM and Harddrive .. it would be finding compatible parts which would be the problem. :p

Hi, thanks for your reply, I put the little Deskpro in mothballs for awhile. I would like to fire it up again, but it accepts a maximum of half a gig ram, and up to 80 gig hard drive which is what I have now. But 7 did run very well with this, until I put AVG on, then it went to a crawl. So I would put another anti-virii on. It is a fun little computer and just keeps on going and going.

I am not quite sure of the type of graphics card to get. It would take a very small card, half height I guess. I keep hoping that someone somewhere rummaged up a driver for this excellent computer.
