Compatibilty Mode

Hello there, i recently got a new pc and installed most of my programs form the old pc to the new one, but the most important program of all does not work on windows 7, i tried running it on all the compatibility modes and also ran "troubleshoot compatiblity" and it does not work. This program is not sold anymore or neither does it have updates. What can i do to make it work, and i mean !I MUST MAKE IT WORK!
Are there any programs that can help me with my problem?
Please help, any advice is greatly appreciated, im willing to try anything.
Thank you.

What is the program, and what machine did you run it on before?

You can run more or less anything in a Virtual Machine.

The program is Arteferro Cad 3D, which is a program used to design gates, fences, balconies, handrails and anything related to metal work, There is another program from the creators of this one but you have to pay for the days you use it and it is online. I use to run it on Windows xp, i am not sure if it was home edition or service pack 3, the thing is that is not with me right now so i cannot find out for sure untill tomorrow.
I do not know what you mean by virtual machine, sorry i am not so with computers

if i install this program will i be able to switch between operating systems or just be stuck with xp which would be the one i need for this program?

You can switch as you like, or communicate with the virtual machine just as if it was a physical machine. Using a virtual machine has no effect on your actual operating system.

If i install the virtual machine program do the operating systems already come intalled or do i have to download them separately?

I'd recommend as a simple virtual machine solution Windows XP Mode: it's a free Virtual PC VM developed by Microsoft for folks with the exact issue you're having with app compatibility issues. You'll get Virtual PC, a Windows XP virtual machine that runs like an application on top of Windows 7, and you can install your application inside of the XP box. After that, you can access your XP app directly from your Windows 7 Start menu. I've attached a screenshot of what it looks like to install apps inside XP Mode in Win7.

To download XP Mode: Download Windows XP Mode

I am a virtualization enthusiast. I like Hyper-V. It's free.
I'm a Windows 7 fangirl. I will teach a class for you or write a custom course for you RIGHT NOW.
I love EVE Online. I'm Sayra Sainer. I play Starcraft II. My gamertag is Tal0nn. I'm trying not to play Minecraft.
I also like coffee. I'll take a basic triple grande extra-hot breve stirred ristretto caramel machiatto.
You're welcome, Autlense!

and FYI, props to Mike Connor-- VMWare Player is awesome. On the website to d/l it it even says it's "better than Windows XP Mode" :) (haha!) but XP Mode is just much simpler. Either one would work for you :)

Just a completely irrelevant question, and probably ridiculous, but are you by any chance the Heather Jones who used to work in the mail department at I.C.I ?

If you want to install XP on a virtual machine, then you need a valid license for it. If you don't have one, you can't do it.
