computer frequently doesn't respond and crash dumped

my pc started acting up pretty bad with frequent spells of not responding and 2 crash dumps. unfortunately I did not get the error codes. I became so frustrated that I said screw it and completely reinstalled windows 7 pro 64 bit on my computer with the reinstallation disc included with my hp 6005 pro refurb. To my amazement I still have the same exact problems of programs not responding and it also crash dumped again. I am stumped lol! Any kind of suggestion on what I might do to regain control over my rebellious machine would be very appreciated.
