Computer sounds coming through the speakers

Got some speakers for my PC and they make an annoying whistling sound and when my PC makes a noise like a disk whirring it is amplified through the speakers.

Also, when I scroll up and down a webpage for example it makes extra noises.

What can be done to remove this background noise?

Thanks

No system specs including what type of sound "card" and what type of speakers - analog connected to the PC's GREEN speaker out jack or USB.

Some of those sounds are standard windows sounds that can be enabled or disabled in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound. Click on "Change System Sounds" under the "Sound" entry.

A high speaker volume setting will tend to make those system sounds more noticeable.

It's an onboard thing I guess - Realtek High Definition Audio. It's plugged into the green hole on the back of the PC.

I changed the sound scheme to 'No Sounds' but I can still hear things. Why does it make a noise when I scroll a webpage?

Thanks

The scroll sound should also be part of the windows sound scheme. Did you restart the PC after changing the sound scheme?

I have the sounds disabled (no sounds) set in my system as I also use this for my recording studio system and do not get any "system" sounds.

You still have not filled in the System Specs section, you mention RealTek but more is need. Do you have any "Sound Enhancements" enabled (available on some systems). This is a long shot but something to check.

I would remove your Serial Number and Asset Tag number, they are considered "personal data" and someone could scan though the forum and find those. There is a separate section under your "User CP" that you enter your system specs. Then if someone needs to see them all they have to do is click the "My System Specs" on the lower left of a post panel to see them.

Sound Enhancements, if you had them would probably be in the Sound Panel or may be in a separate RealTek configuration panel. I don't have a RealTek system that I can look at to see where they are (if a system has these). Sound Enhancements include echo, reverb, chorus, etc.

Sounds coming through mine too...

It's almost certain to be a hardware issue, not really related to Windows 7. My motherboard interferes with my on-board sound card chip set to cause this kind of problem.

The only solution is to get a decent sound card with independent circuitry. Then you shouldn't have this problem.

I'm aware this post is old, so I hope you managed to resolve it before now. I just updated in case anyone else stumbles across this post.
