Hi - I was running Trusteer Rapport under Vista 32 bit Home Premium with IE7. It is a program (provided by my online bank) to provide enhanced security for online banking.

When I upgraded to Win 7 64 bit Home Premium I didn't re-install Rapport right away. I had problems logging on to my bank's website so I re-installed the program.

This caused a major problem with IE8. When I would open a second or third window the newly opened tab would show as Connecting... and hang. The first window may or may not remain functional, and the only way to exit IE is to open Task Manager and forcibly end the IE task.

A lot of checking (with the help of Microsoft Support) narrowed the cause to Rapport. I uninstalled it and things are good now.

I reset all of IE's options back to default and deleted all cookies, etc.. I can now access my banks website without any problems.

You may want to beware of this program. I have noticed that my bank doesn't seem to offer it anymore.

Cheers

Dave

Your Bank is still aggressively promoting the software. The banners promoting Rapport rotate from login to login though so I would expect that you’ll see the banner next time you visit.

my two pennies worth!

Hey Dave,

I've been using trusteer rapport for a few months now and have had no issues with it at all. My brother also uses it (we both bank with RBS) and he was the one who recommended it to me. :-)

Anyway, thought I'd say give it another go with them as we all need decent security when banking and its not worth putting yourself at risk because of a bad experience that may not have had anyhting to do with the software

hey braincramp, pay no attention to these two replies...the first needs no explanantion, but the second is a puff, in some way related to Trusteer, attempting to neutralise this, and other blogs...the rest of us have seen this BS before on other forums...if you've got rid of this menace, good choice!! but go check your folders at least, esp. Temprary Internet Files, it may be hidden now...and also check for any other anomalies...Trusuteer/Rapport folders or registry entries. Good Luck
